If you’re familiar with Eliza, the computer therapist, then Cleverbot may not be something that amazes you much. However, the fact that Cleverbot is using user-generated corpus of linguistic inputs (via millions of conversations) makes it even more intelligent! Via Cleverbot, the user is not holding a conversation with a bot that directly responds to entered text (which is usually pre-stored in a database). Instead, when the user enters text, the algorithm selects previously entered phrases from its database of prior conversations from other users.
Thus far, it has generated and stored over 20 million conversation. And on the plus side, Cleverbot is available in mobile apps format both for Apple iOS and Android OS. On Android, you can even speak to Cleverbot and hear it responds! This is really a good app for those who wants to perhaps improve their communication skills. For teachers, you can even give a challenge the student to keep the conversation in logical manner by using appropriate words and skills.
Of course, don’t expect it to replace human just yet. You’ll have to bear in mind that you’re talking/typing to a bot and not human! Haha.
Give it a try here. http://www.cleverbot.com
